With digital things come digital benefits and digital problems. With high-speed internet sending something digitally is a fast, frictionless experience. But have you sent it? Or just a copy?

“Have you sent it? Or just a copy?”

To illustrate this, imagine sending a photo. What happens is, you take out your phone and snap a picture. Then you send this picture to someone. It is not that after sending the picture, this person has the picture, but you do not. That was with the apple example, there could be only one owner. With most digital objects, you do not send the original, you send a copy. This has made it hard to enforce digital ownership, without relying on some trusted third party.
