One of my favourite things from Star Wars are the ‘Jedi Mind Tricks’ - where one of the Jedi can create a convincing illusion for someone. When trying to explain blockchain, this concept helps people to get their head around a new mental model. It goes against your conventional wisdom.
For so many generations, in order to get things more efficient, we had to centralise and scale things. This had led to large institutions and factories that became the efficient behemoths that we know today. This is the conventional wisdom as we know it.
Using blockchain, we can now create structures that do not centralise the power, but keep the power at the edges of the system and still become very efficient at it. This goes against conventional wisdom, as if showing the world upside down and expecting everybody to instantly grasp it.
