For years we centralised everything, so why would you decentralise again? We see it in energy, but also with blockchain, decentralisation matters. It helps the participants in a decentralised system to work towards a common goal.
I find it interesting that so many parallels exist on this concept for both the energy system and blockchain. Also in an old article, on why decentralisation has a solid chance of succeeding:
