Sprinting a Marathon

2020-04-14 | Execution Sprinting a Marathon

I want to share a general word of caution. I hear from so many people who are now in some permanent sprint mode. Please, do take a break!

With the Corona pandemic, a lot has changed in how we work. A lot has also changed in the ‘perceived workload’ where people think they have to work more to appear more productive now. They make more hours a day; the
y combine all other sorts of activities and have little to no time to wind down. I’m not an expert in psychology, but this can’t be right.

A lot of the Innovation Managers and Startup Founders I speak to usually are working in sprints to run their projects. But it seems they have forgotten collectively that these sprints are part of a marathon, so pace yourself. It is not right to stay safe from Corona and work yourself to the ground.

Double-check:

  • Your total backlog,

  • Your actual burn rate,

  • Your priorities

And don’t forget yourself and your family with this list!
