The Human-Digital Perspective

Sometimes it helps to take a new perspective.

With any Digital domain, it is easy to focus solely on the new technologies and what they can offer. It takes restraint to take a step back, out of that ‘kid in the candy store’-mode, and start with the end-game in mind. What is the ultimate goal you or your organisation is trying to achieve? This also provides room to implement the human perspective in such a digital transformation, something that is too often overlooked and leads to project failures.

“Fundamentally, it’s because most digital technologies provide possibilities for efficiency gains and customer intimacy. But if people lack the right mindset to change and the current organizational practices are flawed, DT will simply magnify those flaws.” - HBR - Digital Transformation Is Not About Technology

If you develop innovations for machines or robots, go ahead and skip the human part. If the success of your project depends on humans using it, consider their role and ask for their feedback early and often.
