For their AI4Cities application, Sympower joined with AEB to submit their AI-enhanced, multi-commodity energy grid. To increase their chances of success, I helped them level up their application for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the ongoing program.

Situation
In a joint effort, Sympower and AEB wanted to subscribe to the AI4Cities challenge in Europe. The AI4Cities challenge is a collaboration between six European cities looking to source solutions from the AI field to tackle climate change.
Sympower and AEB joined forces on a use case where the energy network from AEB and the AI smarts from Sympower work to enhance the network's efficiency and reduce the network's carbon footprint.
To increase their chances of getting selected, I helped the team revise their tender documents and challenge them to think next level. Here is where I could deploy my skills as an Innovation Coach and Startup Mentor, focussing on AI and Energy. Could it get any better?
Service
The team received my coaching using remote tooling in a pressure cooker setting; we had one week to deliver, and it was on! We had sessions scheduled throughout the week to keep the momentum. Next, we also had some ad-hoc moments to call or review documents for the team.
Execution
It was nice to help this team on such short notice and with such a deep understanding of their respective businesses. We had some great sessions, and ultimately the team delivered the tender documents on time!

Results
More importantly than a document delivered on time, on May 4th 2021, AI4Cities published the list of admitted companies for the next phase for AI4Cities. AI4Cities selected the project for Sympower/AEB! Both Sympower and AEB are delighted with this result already and are eager to demonstrate their added value in the coming period.
