Identifying Opportunities - Tile

How to identify opportunities and know what is coming your way? Seizing innovation opportunities in the energy industry starts with building a radar.

It is easy to spot a wall or a gap. It is hard to detect a swelling tsunami that will crush you much later. In innovation identifying the opportunities out there takes time and skill. Identifying which innovations are right for you, now or in the future is part art, part science.

With my engineering background and entrepreneurial spirit, I love the interaction between technology and business. I am a voracious reader and follow all new developments like a hawk. From my experience, I can quickly assess if and what the impact of such a development can become. I also keep an eye on adjacent industries and fields of science and can give you a quick understanding of the abstract concepts ahead.

Innovation Challenges

  • The technology is not on their radar.

  • Not the right expertise to seize these new opportunities.

  • No time to keep track of and assess all developments.

UNDER THE RADAR

What is not on your radar, can still hit you later on. While it is hard to have a full overview of everything out there, it helps to bring on board allies to scout in specific areas for you. Experts in these new and emerging domains that help you see the unseen.

SEIZING OPPORTUNITIES

With some innovations, a new way to think about your business is in order. Repeating the same approach will not lead to success. Finding a method to learn these new methods and understanding the impact of these new technologies for your business is key. Learning by doing is the ultimate validation.

SPENDING TIME ON INNOVATION

Running an energy business takes a lot of your time and attention. Time spent running the company, is time not spent on re-inventing it and making sure you are fit for the future. Delegating this to someone who thoroughly understands your industry will make sure your business can continue to run reliably and smoothly.
