Peak X. A point in time, after which we will gradually see less and less of X. Within the energy context, we have ‘Peak Oil’, the moment after which the use of oil will presumably decline. There is also ‘Peak Coal’, ‘Peak Cars’ and many others.
Centralisation has led to incredible efficiency. When you wanted something to become more efficient, you pooled a lot of resources together in a large building and centralised knowledge, power and other resources.
With the rise of renewable energy, blockchain, IoT, edge computing and so many other developments; are we approaching Peak Centralisation, or have we already passed it?
